Abstract
Computer mechanisms and Aquinas's view of angels share a number of features that are compared in this article. CPU and angels both know themselves simply and quickly without moving parts; RAM and angels' innate unchanging knowledge; ROM and angels' giving and receiving knowledge; hard drive and angels' intellectual memory but not sense-memory; and like a computer with an operating system, angels are equipped at creation with innate and habitual intelligible species. Although some of the connections are by the author's own admission stretching the analogy, this is not the first time that the connection between software and spirit has been noted. [GBC]
