About A Christian Appraisal of Stephen Wolfram’s *A New Kind of Science* [Book Review]
Abstract
Wolfram (2002) presents some ideas about informatics/computer science that relate to Christian beliefs. For Wolfram, everything is software; all processes can be viewed as computations. He asserts that deterministic computations can produce randomness and account for free will. Is this viewpoint compatible with Christian belief? Is a resurrected body like software inhabiting new hardware? Wolfram's reductionistic outlook offers insights on many phenomena but fails to explain eveything. [A, CJ]
