Abstract

This paper is a commentary on the use of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam as a general assessment tool for the Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. The paper presents a brief description of some 20 FE exam foibles. While individually these items would be considered minor, the items as an ensemble become an alarming weakness in using the FE test as a single measure of the engineering education. Further, at least for the Christian community, there is a notable variance for the 'ethics' category. Ethic formulation must be extended from the professional level to a personal level.
