Abstract
Today's fourth stage of civilization involves computing sciences and information systems. This chapter examines philosophical, ethical, and social issues connected with these developments. Information must be interpreted, which is of particular importance to Christians. Artificial intelligence raises important issues about the nature of humanity and its proper role in life and society. If Christians want to have any impact on these developments they must be intimately involved in the design, implementation, and application of AI at all stages. [CJ]
