Abstract
Our response to and participation in AI is grounded in motivations of the human heart, though sound regulation of its development and use are also important and helpful. Ethical considerations enter in, but these too go back to the human heart. AI, like everything creational, is neither our savior or a villain. AI should be used to promote human flourishing. The biblical story gives us a worldview framework for working in and thinking about this field. Large language models and chatbots have certain built-in assumptions that we must be aware of. Humans are different than robots/chatbots, and we shouldn't treat machines as persons. We must remain in community with others. AI can be directed in many different ways that work toward shalom and that contribute to the coming Kingdom of God. [CJ]
