Abstract
The internet and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race. The digital revolution has had an extreme impact on our cultures, minds, and souls in just a few short years. Everything has changed, and yet the real changes are only just beginning. By the time they are finished, unless we pay attention, we may barely be human at all. In the last couple of decades a major shift has occurred, rapidly emerging in the birth of a development that threatens to change everything: artificial intelligence. AI's consciousness capability has been growing exponentially and mysteriously, the monstrous transhuman visionary project of a rationalist, materialist culture. Many religious leaders downplay the danger of AI, uncritically embracing the Machine, viewing technology as religiously neutral and under human control. There is no getting away from any of this. The Machine is our new god, and our society is being constructed around its worship. The digital revolution represents a spiritual crisis, one that can't be met by a moderate response. We must ask of any technology: what or whom does it serve: Humanity or the Machine, God or his adversary? The hour is late. It is up to all of us to decide what to do about AI and act upon it. [A, CJ]
