Christian Perspectives on Computer Science

Abstract

Computer science clarifies what it means to be human. In a fallen world, computability has its limits. When our soul is separated from our bodies in death, our hope for eternal life is not in having our minds ported to another system, but in resurrection and a new body. Hard ethical and social questions surround computing, including the meaning of virtual communities, identity theft, simultaneous bombardment of our multiple senses, and loss of personal freedom. Computer scientists should serve God with thankfulness and joy. [GBC]
