Abstract
This paper explores how service-based projects enhance engineering education by fostering collaboration among students from different academic years. Drawing on experiences at Messiah College and George Fox University, the author argues that inter-class teamwork on meaningful projects promotes deeper learning, leadership development, and community building. Service projects provide common passion, shared purpose, and unique experiences that strengthen fellowship and encourage knowledge transfer. Practical examples and program models, such as integrated curricula and servant engineering courses, illustrate how these interactions improve technical skills and cultivate humility, mentorship, and a commitment to service. The paper concludes with recommendations for implementing such approaches.
