About The Body in Cyberspace: Lanier, Merleau-Ponty, and the Norms of Embodiment.
Abstract
An essay is presented on the views of philosopher Maurice Merleau-Ponty and virtual reality pioneer Jaron Lanier regarding cyberspace and the norms of embodiment. Topics discussed include the limitations of cyberspace technology and human personhood, theological approach to cyberspace, and Lanier's book "You Are Not a Gadget."
