About The Theology of Robots
Abstract
A provocative informal talk that seems less speculative today than when it was written on whether robots might come to have consciousness, emotions, and an understanding of meaning. Author holds to the strong AI hypothesis that machines can replicate human behavior. Thus they might well believe in God, sin, pray, be redeemed. A similar outlook is treated in the science fiction short story "The Quest for St. Aquin" by his fellow Roman Catholic, Anthony Boucher. [GBC, CJ]
